Getting ready for Christmas

The first weekend in Dec. was opening deer hunting so while the guys hunted my mom came up to stay with me and Decker. On Fri. night we went through the Pella Tour of Homes. I hadn’t done any Christmas decorating as I’ve been too busy with work. So it was fun to get ideas and help get in the mood to decorate. We got everything put up on Sat. except the tree. Sat. morning we came into town and did some shopping and took Decker to see Santa Claus. He was TERRIFIED of him!!!!! Ask him if he likes Santa Claus now and he says NO and starts shaking his head no. Mom got him the stuffed Santa Claus from the Polar Express book and he was playing with it fine. Now after we saw Santa he won’t even touch the button on it to make it sing. I think he’s traumatized :)

On Sun. we went and got our tree. We got a Frasier fir and since they were imported from WI we didn’t get to cut it down. Jeff was pretty excited about that. Decker is doing pretty good with the decorations, except for the tree. He thinks the ornaments are balls and wants to throw them. We’ve had some timeouts in our house the last week!

This past weekend we went to DSM to finish up some Christmas shopping and try to go visit Santa again at Bass Pro Shops this time. Decker was doing good in line and said “Hi Santa” when it was our turn. Then we tried to put him on Santa’s lap. That didn’t go so well, he freaked out. So we got a family picture taken with Santa instead of Decker by himself. Then we were done and he said “Bye Santa”. So he’s improving!

Family picture with Santa - you can tell he looks scared!

Jeff took advantage of the nice weather Thanksgiving weekend and put up the outside lights. Here is Decker in front of our stocking.

I just have to put this picture on here. You know your son needs a haircut when you can put his hair in pigtails!! Him and his daddy both were not too happy with me for doing this... I just couldn't resist :)

The piggies in Decker's hair is sooooooo funny! It seems at his age all kids are afraid of Santa. Your tree is beautiful. And love the PJ pic of Decker!! Looks like you're ready for the season!

Poor Decker, he'll need counseling when he is older due to Santa!! J/K! Porter and Stella were TERRIFIED of Santa at that age! And his piggies are too cute! :) You need pics like that for when they are older. I have a photo of Porter in one of Stella's pink dance leotards....you can bet that will be coming out at his HS graduation! Ha ha! :)
