Decker’s week in Mt. Ayr

Mom and Dad are starting to do one-on-one time with the grandkids and have them spend a few days alone at their house.  So Decker spent the last week there and he had a blast!  There were tears when he finally had to come home.  The trip started off with mom coming to pick him up so my dad put up signs on the road welcoming Decker as my mom and him drove into town.  He got to hang out at the nursing home and see Nina.  Mom signed him up for a 3 part swim lesson.  He’s taking them in Pella this summer but can’t believe how he progressed down there.  He even jumped off the diving board by himself at the end!  A good family friend’s son Brady Bickel  took Decker to the pool several afternoons as well and of course they hung out at the lake and swam and tubed too.  And I think he said he had 6 root beer floats in 4 days.  No wonder he didn’t want to come home to rules and vegetables – ha!  Jeff was gone all weekend working so Grady and I headed down to meet them at Katie’s restaurant Friday night.  Then we hung out at the lake the next two days and it was so relaxing.  Dad had his fishing line out and thought they had caught a big fish, turned out to be a turtle!  That’s a first!  We also got to see the puppies that my dad’s dog Sarge is the dad of.  Grady loved the puppies and was pretty sad when we had to leave them.  I thought the boys would be a bit nicer to each other but of course they were tired and fighting right away :)  But Grady really did miss Decker and kept asking about him all week.  He kept saying “I miss my Decker buddy.”  I think Decker was having too much fun to notice…  Thanks mom and dad!
