This summer was Decker’s first year of playing coach pitch
baseball (it’s no longer called t-ball he often reminded me, it’s coach pitch
baseball). Decker had so much fun
playing and really enjoyed it. I
wondered how he would do as he only knew one other kid on the team from
preschool when he was 4 and didn’t know any of the coaches. But my first baby is all grown up and didn’t
even think twice about leaving me for practice :) Decker got a chance to play all of the positions
this summer and was really excited the one time he got to play catcher – I
guess the equipment looked like fun to wear!
By the end of the season he got several outs by grounding a ball and
running to the base to get the runner out.
He also got several hits throughout the season off the coaches instead
of just the tee (you get 4 coach pitches and if you don’t hit it, then you get
to hit off the tee.) I loved to see how
big his smile was when he got those hits!!
He was so excited! Grady had fun too watching his big brother play and really wanted to go on the field with him. We were very
proud of the player Decker was this summer – he hustled, listened to the
coaches, improved as the season went on and most importantly had lots of fun
playing!
