We have had fun getting ready for Decker’s first Christmas! Thanksgiving weekend we went to the tree farm and cut down our own tree. It was a great day until . . . Jeff locked the keys in the car right as we were getting ready to leave. Of course Decker’s diaper bag was in there and it just happened to be time for a bottle and diaper change. Luckily our neighbor came to save us but we were out in the country so a good 40 min. later he arrived and Decker was NOT a happy baby. He learned to drink water out of styrofoam cup just to try and calm him down! Then when we got home the tree wouldn’t stay up so as Jeff is trying to fix it the tree stand broke - partly my fault and hopefully Jeff doesn't read this as I have yet to admit that to him : ) So now our tree is being held up by wire screwed to the baseboard. Needless to say, Jeff and I both had a drink at the end of that night : ) Jeff has also had fun putting up Christmas lights this year and I enjoyed decorating the rest of the house. Decker won’t remember his first Christmas but Jeff and I have made many fun memories getting ready for it!

What a fun family day!

Again we got a big fat wide tree to fill up our corner!

The stockings were hung . . .

Jeff's handy work.

It's hard to tell in the picture but mom and dad had a stocking made with our name on it just like the ones on Shellway Drive (the street I grew up on). Even put a few geese decoys around just like Pampa and Uncle Matt!

When we were growing up my dad always used to read Twas the Night Before Christmas to the residents and us kids at the nursing home. They came to visit and brought Decker the book. It has a voice recording so Decker can open it up anytime and listen to pampa read him the story.

love your big fat tree! The outside lights look great too, cool about the prerecorded night before christmas book too. Cool tradition to carry on.
Well, this is one Christmas tree you will never forget! Too bad about locking the keys in the car and the tree stand....but a funny story in the end!
